When connecting Jira data to Microsoft Power BI using the Data Processor for Jira app, generating API tokens is essential for a smooth and secure connection. If you're working with multiple Jira instances, each with its own API token, you might encounter an issue in Power BI. Specifically, while setting up the data source for one Jira instance works fine, attempting to do so for another instance with a different API token might result in an error before you even reach the authentication stage. The error may appear as follows:

To solve this issue, we suggest either clearing existing permissions to establish new connections or manually editing the permissions for the problematic connector. For step-by-step instructions on how to achieve this, please refer to the guide below.

Clearing Permissions

  1. Open Microsoft Power BI Desktop, and within the application, go to the ‘File’ menu. From there, choose ‘Options and settings’ and then select ‘Data source settings’.

  1. Then, under the ‘Global permissions’ tab, identify and select the data sources you wish to manage (we advise selecting all permissions related to the Data Processor usage) and hit the 'Clear Permissions' button.

  1. In the pop-up window that appears, confirm the action by clicking the 'Delete' button to clear the permissions.

This action will delete the current permissions, enabling you to establish fresh connections with data sources across different Jira instances.

Important: When creating new connections, it's essential to generate unique API tokens for each Jira instance. Also, make sure that the API tokens are linked to the appropriate email addresses for their respective Jira instances. This is vital for ensuring that your connections are set up correctly.
